About the Project

The Davison Name Study project serves as a collaborative platform to collect information on the Davison name. The hope is that other researchers like you will join the study to help make it a valuable reference point for other genealogists who are researching or have an interest in the Davison name.

As a One Name Study, this project is not limited to persons who are related biologically. Individual studies can be used to branch out the research into specific methods and areas of interest, such as geographically (England Davisons), by time period (18th Century Davisons), or by topic (Davison DNA, Davison Occupations, Davison Statistics). These studies may also include a number of family branches which have no immediate link with each other. Some researchers may even be motivated to go beyond the profile identification and research stage to compile fully sourced, single-family histories of some of the families they discover through this name study project.

My English forebears on the Paternal side of my family were Davison's from Toppesfield, Essex, England.

My line of Davison's came from Ireland according to census data. Thomas Davison married a grand niece of George Washington. He was married in Barren County Kentucky in 1808,

My Davison surname line has been traced back from Ireland to America in the early 1700's, and likely originated in Scotland. My family has since gradually migrated to Washington State, where I now live. This branch of Davisons came close to losing the surname, due to a relatively small number of male descendants in the past few generations. I am interested in locating others who bear the surname, to learn if and how we are connected, and how our families have spread across the globe.
